Movers in Selwyn, Ontario

Zero Hour Moving serves Selwyn Township, from Lakefield and Bridgenorth to Woodland Acres on the edge of Peterborough and the farms and cottages in between. Nearly every home is a detached house, many of them decades old, and a large share of residents are at or past retirement age, so downsizing and cottage moves sit alongside full family relocations.

Selwyn is part of Peterborough County. Our crews move people across the whole region.

Selwyn movers for Lakefield, Bridgenorth and lakeside cottages

Detached houses make up almost all of Selwyn's housing, and they are generously sized, so a typical move is a full house with several bedrooms, a garage and often a workshop or shed as well. The stock is mature: about three in five homes were built before 1981, which means narrower stairways, older door frames and heavy furniture that has not budged in years. The population is older too, with roughly three in ten residents at retirement age, so many moves here are about downsizing, with part of the household going to a smaller home and the rest to family, donation or storage. Rentals and condos are scarce, which keeps nearly every job a house-to-house move rather than an apartment with an elevator.

About two-thirds of Selwyn is rural, with farms on the flatter land between rolling hills and lakes, and the Trent-Severn Waterway runs through the township. A rural property may sit down a long lane or on a narrow road, so let us know about access and turning room before moving day. The township is also part of Ontario's eastern cottage country, where many seasonal owners from the Toronto area keep places on small lakes, so warmer months are when cottage moves and furniture runs pick up. One local quirk is worth knowing: the old rural route mailing system was phased out and many addresses changed, so give us your civic street address rather than an old route number.

Our crews work across the township, including Lakefield, Bridgenorth, Chemong Park, Woodland Acres and Ennismore. Peterborough is roughly 13 km away, and plenty of our Selwyn jobs start or finish there, while Douro-Dummer, Otonabee-South Monaghan and Cavan-Monaghan are close neighbours. Many residents arrived from elsewhere in Ontario, and Toronto is roughly 119 km away, so longer moves to and from the city are routine for us. Out-of-province moves start the same way, with a walkthrough and a written plan. Call or send a request with both addresses and your preferred date to get a quote.
