Whitby is a town of family homes. Residents can register guests' and contractors' vehicles online for a free short-term exemption from the street time limit and the overnight ban, but apartment and housing-complex residents are not eligible, large commercial vehicles and big trailers do not qualify, and every exemption is cancelled when the Town plows or salts roads town-wide. New accounts need approval first, so register early. If you are clearing out, the Town's special collection takes sofas, mattresses and appliances when booked through its app or website, though the program can pause at busy times of year.
